SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 6 – Jimmy Solanki as
franchisee of the 7-Eleven at
107 East 23rd Street in
Manhattan was sued by his
workers for failure to pay
overtime.
First,
7-Eleven itself was dismissed
from the case. Then Solanki's
lawyer left him. Now Solanki
faces sanctions for failure to
comply with his discovery
responsibilities.
On October
6 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Vyskocil allowed Solanki's
now-former defense lawyer to
leave. Then she denied, at
least for now, the request for
sanctions, saying she is
"giving Defendant a final
opportunity to comply with his
discovery obligations, by
October 20."
The case is
Acharya v. 7-Eleven, Inc. et
al., 18-cv-8010 (Vyskocil)
