SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 31 – Yuri Barmashov was a
skydiving instructor certified
by the US Parachute
Association when his signature
was forged for a jump that
resulted in death. He was
de-certified by USPA, and he
sued.
On January 31, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The case
was first filed in California,
then dismissed without
prejudice to see if the
parties could settle. They
have not. Now USPA has moved
to dismiss and compel
arbitration.
The case is
Garmashov v. United States
Parachute Association, Inc.,
21-cv-4917 (Koeltl)
