SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 8 – The Good Friendship
Deli at 3650 White Plains Road
in The Bronx has been sued for
not being accessible to people
in wheelchairs, because the
steps and the main and only
entrance of its premises are
an illegal
barrier.
On December 7, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Liman ruled
that the steps do constitute a
barrier, and awarded $1000 in
compensatory damages. He
declined, however, to take an
ongoing monitoring role in the
case.
The next and
seemingly last step is for the
plaintiff to file a motion for
attorney's fees and costs. The
case is Altaune Brown v.

Tobacco Corp et al.,
