SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 1 – In an ongoing
Fair Labor Standards Act case
that Inner City Press has been
covering, the close of
discovery was overturned on
May 29, 2020 by the defendant
hiring a new lawyer.
Morris Fateha of
Avenue in Brooklyn said he
needs more time.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni was
tough but was convinced to
give Fateha the chance to
depose the plaintiff Mohammed
Bouhajrah.
Jump cut to
October 1, 2021. Another
conference was set in the case
and Inner City Press called it
to carry it. After it
identified itself, Judge
Caproni jokes that it must be
a slow news day. But Inner
City Press has covered this
case - in which, now, a
default was being granted
against three defendants. A
conference about the trial of
the remaining defendant is set
for October 14.
The case is
Bouhajrah et al v. Hill Deli
Grocery Corp. et al.,
18-cv-11391 (Caproni).
