SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 9 – Delroy Askins went
back to school at Hostos
Community College in The Bronx
in 2012. In 2018 he applied
for a job at Project Strive in
East Harlem.
But the interview
panel did not ask him a single
follow up question, unlike
others, and he did not get the
job.
He sued, and has
alleged that "Strive has some
serious problems when it comes
to to people with
disabilities."
On September 9
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Andrew L. Carter held a
pre-motion conference. Inner
City Press covered
it.
Strive,
represented by the Jackson
Lewis law firm, is preparing a
motion to dismiss, on gorunds
that the court lacks
jurisdiction and the Askins
"should be collaterally
estopped from asserting
Federal claims." The motion is
due October 8, and reply
January 12.
The case is
Askins v. Weinberg et al.,
19-cv-8793 (Carter)
