SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 4 – Workers, many of them
residents of The Bronx, sued
eight Manhattan locations of
Gigi's Cafe and Tasty Cafe,
most of them now closed due to
COVID restrictions, for
wage-shaving.
On January
4 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
The
question on the table was
whether the parties are
prepared to schedule a
Settlement Conference,
particularly now with the
cafes closed. The answer was
maybe.
Judge Cave
said to check in late February
or early March, and then
perhaps more mediation.
The case is
Choque et al v. 367 Bake Corp.
et al., 20-cv-8315 (Liman /
Cave)
