SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 1 – Puerto Rico based Blue
Ocean International Bank sued
Golden Eagle Capital Advisers
in San Juan but it got removed
in February 2019 to the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
On
May 1, 2020 SDNY Judge Alison
J. Nathan held a telephone
proceeding in the case,
covered or listened in on by
Inner City Press, "not a
participant."
Blue
Ocean's lawyer Steven Isser
apologized for the incessantly
ringing phone behind him,
saying he was working for home
amid Coronavirus lock-down and
"no one is answering it."
Judge Nathan handled it with
aplomb and turned to defendant
Golden Eagle, which wants to
move for summary
judgment.
Judge Nathan
advised against it, saying it
is often a waste of time and
that she has 300 motions to be
decided. (Recently Judge Lewis
J. Liman said he is a new
judge and so doesn't have the
backlog of his colleagues.)
This case is Blue
Ocean International Bank LLC
v. Golden Eagle Capital
Advisors, Inc., 19-cv-09327
(Nathan).
