Amid MCC Toilet Overflows SDNY Judge Ramos Hears Challenge With OneCoin Echo

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 2 – The lawyer for OneCoin's money launderer Mark Scott, Arlo Devlin-Brown, now has a case before the same judge, Edgardo Ramos, for inmates in the prisons amid COVID-19.

On May 29, Judge Ramos had a pre oral argument telephonic proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Paragraph 39 of the underlying complaint states that on April 12, 2019, feces and urine flooded the women's unit at the MCC from pipes overhead and toilets began to overflow into cells."

On June 2, Devlin-Brown described 11 South of the MCC,  26 inmates "cheek to jowl" - that is, no social distancing.

Judge Ramos asked, What do you mean by cohorting?

Devlin-Brown replied, Grouping people. It's not the best practice.

Devlin-Brown quoted back to Judge Ramos one of his decisions in May, about when a defendant claims it has fixed the problems being sued about.

Judge Ramos said, I'm very familiar with that case. And it's very different from this case.

Meanwhile, Arlo's paying client Mark Scott is going out to dinner in Florida while awaiting sentencing by Judge Ramos. Perhaps this other representation is benefiting him?

The case is Fernandez-Rodriguez et al v. Licon-Vitale, 20-cv-3315 (Ramos).
