SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 31 –
Espire Ads LLC sued Tapp
Influencers Corp. and things
got ugly. They have
stayed ugly.
On March 16, 2022 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
One lawyer
said he'd like to accept
service, but his client
wouldn't let him. Judge Koeltl
said, you can't just blame
your client. You could tell
the client to go elsewhere.
A lawyer cut in
and Judge Koeltl said, That is
not how it is supposed to
work.
On May 31 Judge
Koeltl held another
conference, and Inner City
Press again covered it.
Plaintiffs' counsel had filed
an over-long brief in support
of a request for sanctions.
Asked about it, he said he
would withdraw the motion for
sanctions leaving it up to
Judge Koeltl to consider
imposing sanctions sua sponte,
under his inherent authority.
Defense
counsel said that still
sounded like a motion. Judge
Koeltl said his imposing
sanctions was unlikely. A new
and shorter brief, sans
sanctions, is due on June 1.
It is Espire Ads
LLC et al v. Tapp Influencers
Corp. et al., 21-cv-10623
(Koeltl)
