SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 14 – Yogi's Newsstand and
Smoke Shops on Second Avenue
in Manhattan have been sued
for not paying overtime and
minimum wage. Now they and
their attorney face sanctions
for not complying with orders
about discovery and
depositions.
On January 3, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The defense
lawyer said he had come down
with COVID, that his son had a
temperature of 102 degrees.
Judge Liman wished him well
but noted what he called a
history of delay in the case.
He said he
is taking sanctioning the
lawyer and/or his client very
seriously, and ordered the
plaintiffs to provide a Zoom
link to the upcoming
deposition.
The case is Khan
v. Amazing Store & Smoke
Shop Inc. et al., 21-cv-6148
(Liman)
