SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 19 –
Victoriano Tavarez, a
self-described blind person,
sued Mr. Vacuum under the
Americans with Disabilities
Act for having an inaccessible
website (which, the complaint
says, sells vacuum and sewing
machines).
On March 17, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
This is a
very active plaintiff. In this
case, Judge Woods said he had
ordered mediation. But it had
not happened.
So Judge Woods
adjourned the initial
conference to May 2, with a
letter due on April 25.
The case is
Tavarez v. Mr. Vacuum Inc.,
21-cv-9945 (Woods)
