SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 31 – Christopher
Andretta got COVID while in
Rikers Island and sued the
City of New
York.
On
January 31, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The City has filed a case
management plan without
Andretta's input, saying that
he "is incarcerated and is
proceeidng pro se."
But Andretta
showed up by phone on January
31.
Judge
Liman left the parties on the
line, but said explicitly that
the public had a right to stay
on the line.
Inner City
Press, but voluntarily limits
it reporting to noting that
even after the plaintiff said
he was uncomfortable
continuing to answer questions
since he didn't have a lawyer,
he was told that settling it
more convenient than
litigating, and that some
information will be sent to
him.
The case is
Andretta v. City of New York.
