SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 14 – Richard Wong
pleaded guilty to stealing
$315,000 from his employer
Citibank, defrauding its
procurement process.
On
September 24, 2020 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Laura Taylor Swain held
his sentencing. Inner City
Press covered
it.
Wong's lawyer
emphasized how quickly he had
pleaded out. But the
government, and ultimately the
judge, focused on how long the
fraud went on: five
years.
Wong was
sentenced to 18 months, with a
request made for the camp at
Otisville.
On April 14,
2021, now Chief Judge Swain
held the sentencing for the
two bribers. To Evan Brown,
she gave 14 months. To his
partner Gabriela Bratkovics,
she gave eight months,
compassionately to start in
October 2022 after Brown's
term is over. Both got two
years of supervised release.
The case is US v.
Wong, 20-cr-210 (Swain)
