SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 17 – Chaz Jones was
charged with narcotics
conspiracy then pleaded down
to a single count.
On September 17
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Vernon S. Broderick held
his sentencing. Inner City
Press covered it.
Chaz Jones
himself had written to Judge
Broderick in August, arguing
that New York State prison
time he's served should count
as relevant conduct. On
September 17 his CJA lawyer
said the law is not there,
yet, but ordered the
transcript.
Judge
Broderick sentenced Jones to
what he said was the mandatory
minimum, sixty months then
supervised release. Then he
told Jones, as some judges do,
"I hope I never see you
again."
But Jones
is boning up on the law - and
might appear before Judge
Broderick or one of the
others?
The case is US v.
Jones, 19-cr-125 (Broderick)
