SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 11 – McInnis Cement,
headquartered in Montreal,
built a $100 million facility
in the South Bronx at 50 Oak
Point Avenue. Now they are
being sued by d'Amico Dry
D.A.C. of Ireland, but are
contesting having been served.
On June 11
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
D'Amico
through its lawyers emphasized
that the US McInnis is the
same as the Canadian McInnis,
and said they are seeking to
attach assets in McInnis'
account in the National Bank
of Canada's New York
branch.
Not so
fast, Judge Caproni said, you
are playing fast and loose.
These are separate
corporations. And McInnis has
said its Bronx Terminal
services other terminals in
Providence, Rhode Island and
Bangor, Maine and expects to
sell 550,000 metric tons a
year, up from 324,000 sold in
2019.
This was
certified this month by
McInnis' Edouard Ouellet - in
Montreal. But has he been
served?
The case is
d'Amico Dry d.a.c. v. McInnis
Cement, Inc., 20-cv-3731
(Caproni).
