Lionel Moore Jailed After Being Shot in Neck Applies But Is Denied Compassionate Release

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 11 – Lionel Moore pleaded guilty to 100 grams of heroin in 2018 and has been in USP Lewisberg since. He filed his own pro se motion for compassionate release, to which assigned counsel has supplemented.

On October 9 U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York Andrew Carter held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Moore is 40 years old. In 2004 he was shot multiple times in the neck and abdomen.

Judge Carter listened and expressed sympathy, but ruled that it did not constitute extraordinary and compelling circumstances. He denied the application for compassionate release.

The case is US v. Moore, 17-cr-274 (Carter)
