SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 8 – Joseph Davila is in
prison on charges of violent
kidnapping. On July 8 he asked
for release, to U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge P.
Kevin Castel. Inner City Press
covered it.
Davila was
produced late, and reference
was made to fellow SDNY Judge
Valerie E. Caproni raising it.
When the
proceeding finally began,
Davila's attorney Michael K.
Bachrach cited a case in which
SDNY White Plains Judge Cathy
Seibel freed on bond a man
charged with capital murder.
But AUSA
Thomas Burnett noted that the
case involved a defendant who
had become paralyzed from the
head down. He noted that
Davila, when told that his
kidnapping was being video
recorded, joked about getting
45 days anger management.
Judge
Castel, noting viciousness,
denied the application for
release.
The case is US v.
Davila et al., 20-cr-292
