SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 17 – A 2008 bond
posted by Travelers insurance
company to import tobacco gave
rise to a 2015 lawsuit. On
July 17 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Denise L. Cote
held a proceeding in the case.
Inner City Press covered
it.
The same lawyer
who filed the 2015 case,
Michael P. O'Connor, was
present. There was talk in the
public proceeding about offers
in compromise.
There was talk of
information only being
available under "FOIL,"
presumably the Freedom of
Information Law.
Ultimately Judge
Cote ordered that a draft
judgment should be exchanged
on July 24, and filed on July
31.
The case is
Travelers Casualty and Surety
Company v. Uvezian, 15-cv-4212
(Cote)
