SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 17 – Francis Javier
Pimentel-Tavares was charged
with conspiracy to distribute
one kilogram of heroin, in mid
2019.
Then the case
repeatedly got
adjourned. On
February 17, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
George B. Daniels held a
change of plea proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
When it
came time for the allocution,
the defense lawyer asked if he
could read it out for his
client, then Judge Daniels ask
if the defendant agreed.
Judge
Daniels said OK, he'd ask of
the statement was adopted by
the defendant. That's the
word, the lawyer said. And it
happened.
The sentencing is
set for June 23, when Judge
Daniels said he may have a
trial. If so, he'll break for
lunch - the sentencing is at 1
pm.
The case is US v.
Pimentel-Tavares, 19-cr-425
(Daniels)
