SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 24 – Abdullah
Suleiman is charged in
connection with international
heroin importation. But when
can he get a jury trial?
On February
24, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Lewis A. Kaplan
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered
it.
Judge Kaplan,
explaining the SDNY Board of
Judges process, proposed that
he seek a jury trial date in
September. The prosecutor
asked for August, saying he
has a September murder trial.
The defense
lawyer said he expects to have
his second vaccination shot
against COVID-19 by April. He
agreed to exclude time under
the Speedy Trial Act.
The case is US v.
Suleiman, 20-cr-450 (Kaplan)
