SDNY Subpoena To See If Pedro Weil Hiding

SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 31 – The courts have
reopened in Brazil, and a
Brazilian divorce was the
subject of an August 31
proceeding before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Robert W.
Lehburger. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Lehrburger
had previously granted a
subpoena allowing Ana
Christina Degens to collect
evidence.
Now Pedro Weil is
seeking to intervene and quash
the
subpoena.
Degens' lawyer
from Wilk Auslander, on the
other hand, argues that
"evidence that Weil has been
transferring assets - e.g.
from Brazil to this country -
would certainly be 'for use
in' the Brazilian case [and]
could be the basis for
renewing an application to the
Brazilian court for a
'blocking order' to prevent
Mr. Weil from rendering any
eventual judgment ineffective
by divesting or hiding
assets."
