SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 24 – Jose Cespedes,
described by the US Attorney's
office as a major
international drug trafficker,
was ordered detained in
July.
On August 24,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lorna G. Schofield held
a review. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Schofield
said she would review
Magistrate Judge Barbara
Moses' detention order de
novo.
In the
docket, Cespedes is quoted in
a wiretap, "Where are the
candy?" Then, the US Attorney
says, "After being Mirandized,
Cespedes confessed."
By the end
Cespedes was ordered released
from the Essex County
Correctional Facility on a
$750,000 bond secured by
property in Yonkers and
Virginia.
The case is US v.
Cespedes et al., 20-cr-369
