SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 1 – David Hardy was
charged with shooting a gun in
Mount Vernon and killing
13-year-old Shamoya
McKenzie.
On October
1 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Paul E.
Davison, based at the White
Plains courthouse, held a
change of plea proceeding on
CourtCall. Inner City Press
covered it.
Hardy said
he thought about his victim
everyday and wishes he hadn't
done it. He said he had been
young and made bad decision.
The docket shows that back in
June 2020 while in the MCC,
Hardy "suffer[ed] from
headaches, chest pain and
shortness of breath and
possible COVID-19
infection."
After this
plea, Acting U.S. Attorney
Audrey Strauss said: “On
December 31, 2016, David
Hardy... shot at a rival gang
member, injuring him and
killing 13-year-old Shamoya
McKenzie, cutting short her
young and promising life."
The case is US v.
Hardy, 17-cr-644 (Roman /
Davison)
