SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 3 – Phillip Sullivan, a
hearing-impaired individual,
tried to buy a steak sandwich
from a Subway's restaurant at
223 Avenue B on the Lower East
Side of Manhattan on September
20, 2018.
But staff "used
angry hand gestures and
aggressive body language."
Sullivan sued.
Sullivan sued
Doctor's Associates LCC which
"is the franchisor of Subway
restaurants," as well as local
franchisee Geeta Fastfood
Enterprise Inc.
On October 2,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
As it
turned out, now two years
later "the parties
respectfully request that
discovery be stayed and that
the case be referred to the
[SDNY's] Mediation Program."
The case is
Sullivan, Jr. v. Doctor's
Associates LLC et al.,
19-cv-719 (Woods)
