SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 27 – A
pharmaceutical class action
settlement was approved at
fair on May 27 by U.S.
District Court for the
Southern Distict of New York
Chief Judge Colleen McMahon.
She
understandably expressed
surprise, however, that
plaintiffs' counsel wanted
over 20% of the settlement in
legal fees. Inner City Press
covered the proceeding.
The
plaintiffs' counsel pushed
back, saying that have been
bringing these cases for
twenty years, that the work is
cumulative.
They asked if
they can submitted their time
sheets "in camera" - so that
not only defendants, but also
consumers and the public,
can't see them.
The case is In Re
Namenda Direct Purchaser
Antitrust Litigation,
15-cv-7488 (McMahon).
