SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 30 – The closure by
COVID of the Roosevelt Hotel
at 45 East 45th Street has
given rise to a fight in
artibration and now the courts
between the hotel and the
union, the New York
Hotel & Motel Trades
Council, AFL-CIO.
On May 27,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The union won at
arbitration and the hotel
wants it thrown out by Judge
Koeltl. Included in the
pleadings is a $142 million
loan to the Roosevelt from the
National Bank of Pakistan.
Also: the hotel's conversion
to residential use.
The case is RHC
Operating LLC v. New York
Hotel & Motel Trades
Council, AFL-CIO, 21-cv-10349
(Koeltl)
