SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 3 – Alexander Guerra was
indicted on narcotics charges
in 2016 in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York. But on
May 23, 2018 Assistant US
Attornay Matthew Laroche wrote
to SDNY Judge George B.
Daniels that Guerra has jumped
bail, and to adjourn the case
"sine die" until he was
found.
Now he has been
found. He was apprehended and
arrested in Boston on January
30, 2020. District of
Massachusetts Magistrate Judge
Marianne B. Bowler issued an
Order of Removal and
Commitment to Another District
- the SDNY.
This transfer,
from Boston to New York, took
substantially less time then
of another recent detainee
from Miami to New York: more
than a month, see
here.
On February
10 Guerra reappeared before
SDNY Magistrate Judge Robert
B. Lehrburger, represented by
a lawyer filling in for his
original counsel Gerald
DiChiara. He was detained on
consent, waiving a
pre-sentencing report. The
case is US v. Guerra, 16-cr-11
(Daniels / Lehrburger).
