SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 13 –
A gift shop on 6th
Avenue in Manhattan has been
sued under the Fair Labor
Standards Act. But its owner,
who lives outside of the US,
claims the FLSA does not
apply.
On March 11, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The defense
lawyer said the plaintiff was
in fact a general manager -
and filed three
counter-claims, for $100,000.
He signed off on a case
management plan.
The case is
Abouelmakarem v. MDNMA INC. et
al., 21-cv-10625 (Liman)
