SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 12 – On June 12
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Edgardo Ramos held a
proceeding on Vazquez' request
to be released on bail again,
this time to Puerto Rico.
Assistant US Attorney Nicholas
Chiuchiolo admitted that his
office does not have enough
evidence to proceeding on the
August 2019 charge. But they
opposed bail to Puerto Rico,
given the
distance.
Judge Ramos
disagreed, noting Puerto Rico
is part of the United States,
one does not need a passport
to go there. He ordered
Vazquez released on $100,000
bond.
The case is US v.
Vazquez, 19-cr-663 (Ramos).
