SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 7 – Adea Byrd is charged
with Hobbs Act Robbery and
using a gun in a crime of
violence.
On January 15 DOJ
filed a letter that one of
Byrd's lawyers at Debevoise
& Plimpton LLP has applied
to work for them, that it
might be a conflict of
interest.
On March
5, U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Victor Marrero held a
Curcio hearing. Inner City
Press covered it.
While this
conflict of "your lawyer is
applying to work for DOJ" has
been waived in some other
recent cases, it wasn't here.
A new CJA counsel
was appointed, and the next
date is April 9.
The case is USA
v. Byrd et al., 20-cr-357
(Marrero)
