SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 6 – Clifford Casmento
sued Volmar Construction for
terminating his employment
after he complained of
critical safety violations in
their job at 25 Federal Plaza
in Manhattan, including
violations in electrical work
and asbestos.
It has come to
trial.
On June 2, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman was
presiding over the jury trial.
Inner City Press went and
covered it.
Casmento was on
the stand, being
cross-examined. Volmar's
lawyer grilled him about
having told OSHA, in 2019,
that he had never taken health
insurance from Volmar, while
he had. Casmento tried to
explain but was told, that's
for re-direct.
On June 6, on the
stand was the Volmar
Construction offical who could
have fired Casmento - but
didn't. He was shown an email
in which he said Casmento
should be fired, but then
repeated that he had not done
so. The case continues.
