SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 28 – Thomas Sanders was
indicted in 2004 along with
Julian Chopurian in a
narcotics conspiracy.
Chopurian
pleaded guilty in 2006 and was
sentenced to 18 months
imprisonment.
Sanders was
arrested and detained on March
2, 2021 - seventeen years
later.
On March
26, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Victor Marrero held
a proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The Speedy
Trial Act - after 17 years -
was tolled until the next
proceeding, May 14. Sanders is
being detained on consent.
