SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 17 –
Constantino Gonzalez-Reyes
filed a petition of habeus
corpus while detained in the
Orange County Correctional
Facility. He was released. But
the habeus petition lives
on.
On June 17,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Gregory H. Woods held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge Woods asked
Brooklyn Defender Services why
the case remains before him.
They replied that
Gonzalez-Reyes could be
detained again.
AUSA Jeffrey
Oestericher said that he is
endeavoring to resolve the
case before having to move to
have it dismissed as moot. It
seems to turn on
Gonzalez-Reyes' compliance
with conditions while out.
The case is
Gonzalez-Reyes v. Decker et
al., 20-cv-2639 (Woods).
