SDNY Exclusive,
Apri 6 –
In a multi-defendant
indictment for exporting kilos
of cocaine from Colombia, with
little fanfare on April 6,
2022 Deivy Alexander
Artunduaga Ramirez pleaded
guilty. Inner City Press was
present and now exclusively
reports it.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald
held the proceeding.
Nothing in the
docket indicated there would
be a guilty plea. Judge
Buchwald asked who was
attending, and Inner City
Press identified itself: the
only non-party
present.
A hiccup
developed, in that the
defendant made forfeiture in
Colombia before he was
extradited to the US. But the
prosecutors did not lower
their demand.
There is a 60
month mandatory minimum.
The
co-defendants are John
Alejandro Sanchez Huertas,
Hugo Alejandro Torrijos Medina
(see below) and Marco Aurelio
Rosales.
In September
2022, this: "Minute Entry for
proceedings held before Judge
Naomi Reice Buchwald:
Sentencing held on 9/20/2022
for Hugo Alejandro Torrijos
Medina (3) Count 1. Present:
AUSA Jarrod Schaeffer for the
Government; David Anders and
Dan Rosenblum for Defendant
Hugo Alejandro Torrijos
Medina; Defendant Hugo
Alejandro Torrijos Medina;
Spanish Translator; Court
Reporter. A sentencing hearing
was held before Judge Buchwald
in-person on September 20,
2022. The Court sentenced Mr.
Medina to 42 months
imprisonment, forfeiture of
$5,334.56, and a $100 special
assessment."
