SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 26 – Joshua Gumora was up
for sentencing on November 25.
He complained
that there are drugs in the
prisons he has been, and that
referrals of him to counseling
as as sex abuser has not been
what is most needed. He said
he is a musician and does not
belong in
jail.
U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Vernon S. Broderick held the
sentencing, which Inner City
Press
covered.
Judge
Broderick made a point of
asking Assistant US Attorney
Daniel Wolf to be sure to made
the authorities aware of the
sexual abuse by a teacher
which is in the sealed
pre-sentencing report, and in
the non-sealed sentencing
submission. (Inner City Press
is not publishing them here,
nor the name of a victim which
was said in connection with a
gun brandishing charge).
Judge Broderick
asked for a follow up letter -
but will that be public?
Similar
follow up was not request on
Gumora's statements about
drugs in the prisons, even
during lockdown.
But Judge
Broderick imposed a year and a
day, so that Gumora can be
eligible for good time credit.
The case is US v.
Gumora, 20-cr-144 (Broderick).
