SDNY Exclusive,
Apri 6 –
In a multi-defendant
indictment for exporting kilos
of cocaine from Colombia, with
little fanfare on April 6,
2022 Deivy Alexander
Artunduaga Ramirez pleaded
guilty. Inner City Press was
present and now exclusively
reports it.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald
held the proceeding.
Nothing in the
docket indicated there would
be a guilty plea. Judge
Buchwald asked who was
attending, and Inner City
Press identified itself: the
only non-party
present.
A hiccup
developed, in that the
defendant made forfeiture in
Colombia before he was
extradited to the US. But the
prosecutors did not lower
their demand.
There is a 60
month mandatory minimum
sentence (with no eligibility
for the safety valve), to be
followed by deportation. The
sentencing is set for July 26
at 12:30 pm, in person.
The
co-defendants are John
Alejandro Sanchez Huertas,
Hugo Alejandro Torrijos Medina
and Marco Aurelio Rosales.
This case is US
v. Ramirez, 18-cr-352
(Buchwald)
