SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 21 – A man named Acevedo
was arrested and released on
$50,000 bond on July 21 in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New
York. SDNY Magistrate
Judge Barbara Moses held a
proceeding late on July 21,
and Inner City Press covered
it.
Acevedo through
an interpreter said he was
receiving $192 a month in Food
Stamps. When asked if he could
afford a lawyer he said he had
no money but that if he could
contact his family there might
be some funds.
At first he
said he had not discussed his
finances with the Federal
Defender - who then told Judge
Moses that the discussion had
been with Pre-Trial Services,
with him on the line.
The bail
package the US Attorney's
Office agreed to did not
include home incarceration or
detention, nor any seek-work
requirement.
Belatedly, a
condition of no firearm was
added. And a second
interpreter was brought in.
The case? For now,
UNknown.
