SDNY COURTHOUSE,
August 4 – Carol Lopez sued
the City of New York, Police
Officer Anthony Saline and
John Doe 1 through 4 after she
says she was beaten while
seeking to defend her son, who
was being roughed up in the
backseat of an NYPD squad car
in front of 2527 Valentine
Avenue in The Bronx on
February 3, 2019.
Lopez was
arrested, but later got an
ACD. She sued.
On July 28, 2022
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Lopez'
lawyer said he is with a small
firm but one which punches
above its weight. There was
discussion of body-worn camera
video.
Judge
Liman said fact discovery
should end November 18, with
summary judgment motions due
by December 12. In the
between, a next conference on
November 29 at 11 am.
