SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 26 – Jaquan Angevine
appeared for a Violation of
Supervised Release before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer on
May 26. Inner City Press
covered it.
The plan
had been a substitution of
counsel, to CJA panel member
John Diaz. But retained
counsel Peter Guadagnino had
not give Angevine the CJA
form. Angevine said he wasn't
being effectively represented
because he couldn't pay.
It emerged
that Angevine was accused of
violation release by going to
a crowded house party.
Ironically, it helped him - no
one wanted to remand him to
prison if he had gotten
infected by COVID-19 and would
infect others.
Judge Engelmayer said if he
does it again, he will be
jailed. The case is US v.
Angevine, 18-cr-108
(Englelmayer).
