SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 15 – Omar Ahmed is
detained on the charge of
being a felon in possession of
a firearm, to wit, a Glock
9-millimet semi-automatic
pistol.
On June 15, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lewis A. Kaplan held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered
it.
Ahmed's
lawyer Robert Walters informed
the Assistant US Attorney that
a Curcio hearing may be
needed, in light of contempt
sanctions against him in state
court.
Explaining the
charge, Walter said that his
client in state court got
access to information under a
protective order and the
information ended up out in
the street.Walter, as the
lawyer, got charged. He did
not want to throw his client
under the bus. He said he'll
be raising it to the NYS
Appellate Division.
Judge
Kaplan asked Walter, who is
still not listed as counsel in
the docket (the Federal
Defenders are still listed,
even though they were "only
for presentment") to "submit a
letter regarding a potention
Curcio issue."
The case is US v.
Ahmed, 21-cr-238 (Kaplan)
