SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 16 – In a Brooklyn
check-stealing scheme, Joanna
Dejesus, George Wilcox and
Thomas Burton were charged in
February,
2020.
On
November 2, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Paul G. Gardephe held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
Complaint described a $110,000
check from a Brooklyn Business
to a Landscaping Business.
Then a
company with a name nearly
identical to the Landscaping
Business was incorporated.
The check was by
a person with a "Joanna
DeJesus" driver's license in a
bank in Chinatown.
On April
16, Joanna DeJesus appeared
again before Judge Gardephe,
with Inner City Press again
covering it, and pleaded
guilty to Count 1 of a third
Superseding Indictment.
Sentencing was scheduled for
August 26.
The case is US v.
Dejesus et al, 20-cr-397
(Gardephe)
