SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 3 – Michael Acobes
was sentenced to ten years for
attempted murder.
On August 3 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge P. Kevin Castel held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Acobes'
lawyer argued for
compassionate release, that
his client has almost served
his whole ten years and has
liver problems.
The Assistant US
Attorney did not dispute the
health issues, but focused on
the underlying crime. (In the
complaint, Acobes is called
"Money Mike").
Judge
Castel granted compassionate
release, with a five day stay
to allow the Bureau of Prisons
to prepare.
The case is US v.
Acobes, 11-cr-568 (Castel)
