SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 10 – Jimmie Gilmore
was brought by U.S. Marshals
into a rare in-person
proceeding on August 10 before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge John G. Koeltl. Inner
City Press was there.
Judge
Koeltl wore a mask throughout,
as did the attorneys including
an Assistant US Attorney in
the gallery. Gilmore spoke
with his two Federal
Defenders, seated at the other
end of the table from his, by
a telephone
receiver.
There was
a hearing on this motion to
suppress the search of his
room and closet. There was a
consent to search form, but
under cross examination it
seemed perhaps dubious. It was
upheld.
Gilmore may (or
may not) actually got on trial
in September. But he will
remain detained, although
Judge Koetlt did grant a
request to issue an order
Gilmore be given an hour a day
to review the hard drive of
evidence against him while in
the MCC, pending any BOP / MCC
complaint. There will be a
medical report.
The case is US v.
Gilmore, 19-cr-724 (Koeltl)
