SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 31 – Mattel has sued a
slew of China-based companies
for violating its trademark
for Barbie and Barbie
clothing.
On
May 28, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Victor Marrero
held a proceeding. Inner
City Press covered
it.
Judge
Marrero asked about the number
of providers of doll clothing
that fits Barbies. He was told
there are many, even more on
Etsy.
An analogy was
made to a smart phone
cover-maker linking their
product to the iPhone 7, as
opposed to "Apple phones"
generically.
The case is
Mattel, Inc. v. Unicorn
Element, et al., 21-cv-2333
(Marrero)
