SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 9 – Orestis Argyris was
changed in 2017 with "using
the internet and a phone
messaging application to
communicate with an undercover
FBI officer about arranging to
have sexual intercourse with a
nine-year-old
girl."
He was
sentenced to a year of home
incarceration. But on
September 9 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Sidney H. Stein held a
violation of supervised
release proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
There was talk of
Argyris being autistic, and
Judge Stein said perhaps this
matter should no longer by in
the criminal courts due to
questions about Argyris' mens
rea.
The approach
contrasted to that in US v.
Peter Bright of ArsTechnica.
This case is US
v. Argyris, 18-cr-547 (Stein)
