SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 28 – In one long running
lawsuit involving the use of
Jimi Hendrix' name and his
likeness on T-shirt
distributed at events by the
Hendrix Music Academy run by
Tina Hendrix, an issue of
contempt of an injunction was
resolved on February 11.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer
questioned Tina Hendrix under
oath: on how the non-profit is
run, about her website and Go
Fund Me page.
He cautioned her
not to guess, to be
specific. At
the end, Judge Engelmayer
thanked her lawyer for
allowing it, and said that
contempt is off the table.
That case is
Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. et
al v. Pitsicalis et al.,
17-cv-1927 (Engelmayer)
But there is
another Hendrix photo case in
the SDNY. On May 28,
Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn
held a proceeding. Leon
Hendrix did not show up, and
the damages inquest continues,
with new submissions due July
15.
This case is
Sygall v. Pitsicalis et al.,
18-cv-2730 (Broderick /
Netburn)
