SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 18 – Dujohn Willette has
been charged three times with
firearms.
On
November 18, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lorna G. Schofield held his
sentencing. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Schofield asked Willette, whom
she let out of prison in
March, if his wife was present
with him. She's coming out of
the shower and will put her
top on, Willette genially
replied.
The US
Attorney's Office, emphasizing
the three times, said it
wanted above the 15 to 21
month
guideline.
Willette said he
was sorry, that a friend had
come to his party and he
hadn't known he had a
gun. The Assistant
US Attorney called this
outrageous, as the gun was
found in an orange box in
Willette's bedroom.
A break was
taken, and Willette returned
to say that the friend had
left the gun but never back
back to pick it
up. Judge
Schofield said she would have
imposed 24 months but for
COVID-19.
As it was,
she gave a time served
sentence with three years of
supervised release, the first
four months on home detention.
She asked
Willette's wife if she will
help keep him on the straight
and narrow. She said she will.
The case is US v.
Willette, 16-cr-790
(Schofield)
