SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 4 – Jenny Fernandez
Nataren was arrested on drug
charges, transporting
meth.
On November 4
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Stewart D.
Aaron held a bail hearing
partially on CourtCall,
partially not. Inner City
Press covered the
former.
Fernandez' lawyer
said the argument against risk
of flight should be heard with
the press and public excluded.
And so Judge
Aaron shifted to another phone
line. To his credit, he
announced that a recording
would be made. But how could a
request be made to unseal it?
Inner City Press stayed on
CourtCall.
When they
returned, Fernandez was
ordered released on bond,
including travel to
Texas. What was the
basis, compared to other
detentions in the evening's
cases like 20-mj-11389
(Torres), and 20-mj-11878,
represented by a white shoe
CJA firm? It is for now
unclear.
This case is US
v. Fernandez Nataren, et al.,
20-mj-11874 (Aaron).
