SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 10 – Milan Heggs was a
40 year old paraplegic when he
was taken to Riker's Island to
await trial on May, 3, 2015.
He was attacked
by another inmate - and then
had his wheelchair taken away
and was put in an isolation
cell. After additional
failures to accommodate his
disability, he sued.
On March 10, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Robert W.
Lehrburger held a discovery
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Lehrburger ordered the City to
produce disciplinary records,
both substantiated and
unsubstantiated, for matters
related to maltreatment,
whether by commission or
omission, for the years 2010
to the present.
Some
reports are to be e-mailed to
Judge Lehrburger's chambers,
for in camera review. These
are matters of public concern.
The case is Heggs
v. City of New York et al.,
18-cv-9709 (Abrams /
Lehrburger)
