SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 1 – Angel Vazquez Campos
was working in Tijuana, Mexico
as a trucking dispatcher when
he began facilitating and
being paid for transporting
drugs into the United States.
He was arrested
in California and appeared,
via Rule 5, in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
for sentencing on September
1.
He faced a
guideline of 168 to 210
months, based on the volume on
fentanyl.
His lawyer Mark
S. DeMarco said that his
client had essentially been
threatened to make him work
with the drug traffickers,
while acknowledging he had
made money. He asked for the
minimum 60 month
sentence.
SDNY Judge
Analisa Torres asked the
defendant if he wished to
speak for himself. He did,
apologizing and expressing
shame. Judge Torres went with
the minimum, 60 months.
The case is US v.
Vazquez Campos, 19-cr-584
(Torres)
